BACKGROUND & EDUCATION
Jennifer brings a varied background and skill set to Bob Markle’s team at Principal Financial Group. She attended Mercyhurst University and earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with a Vocal Concentration (2005). She then went on to Westminster Choir College of Rider University for her Master of Music in Vocal Performance & Pedagogy (2008). Upon graduation, Jen went to work for Pier 1 Imports, starting as a seasonal hire and eventually working up to a Store Manager. Jennifer was the #1 Store Manager for the entire company in 2017, as she took her store in Houston, Texas from #997 in the company to #1. She was also recognized as Pier-former of the Year for her dedication to customer service, especially in the months following the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.
In addition to her work at Pier 1, Jennifer was also a Community Engagement Leader for Thrivent Financial in Houston, TX. In her role as CEL, Jennifer was responsible for building relationships and engagement activities with local congregations and non-profit organizations. She also assisted financial representatives in the growth and development of their individual practices in order to promote Thrivent’s mission through volunteer opportunities, financial education events, and community social events. Jennifer was recognized nationally with the “Most Creative Event” award in 2013 as she organized a private prescreening of a blockbuster movie to grow membership and assist a local non-profit organization.
As part of Bob Markle’s team at Principal, Jennifer is responsible for the development of new client relationships through outreach, networking and community-engagement. She facilitates events, as well as develops the team’s marketing strategy. Jennifer works closely with Bob, Chris, and Sammy to ensure each client is on their way to a successful financial future.
INTERESTS:
Jennifer has performed with the New York Philharmonic, NYC’s Gilbert & Sullivan Society, the Princeton Musicians Guild, and the After Dinner Opera Company. In her spare time here, Jen continues to perform with several local vocal ensembles, including as a regular company member with Painted Sky Opera and a featured soloist with Canterbury Voices. She enjoys reading a good book, listening to amazing music, and spending time playing fetch with her dog, Tucker.
